welcome

We are delighted to welcome you and thank you for taking the time to visit our website.

This website is designed to give prospective parents an insight into our school, our priorities and expectations as well as providing regular up-to-date information for current parents and pupils. We hope you will find it helpful and interesting.

Numont British Primary School was founded in 1962 by Margaret Ann Swanson, whose vision was to provide good, sound British Education for children of all nationalities. Mrs Swanson believed that learning in a multi-cultural setting provides children with a rich and stimulating environment, which leads to tolerance and understanding. Numont has occupied its present location in C/Parma since 1969. It has grown in size since its early days but it still retains a sense of familiarity that has enabled it to remain a friendly environment which offers a broad and varied curriculum.

The principles that the school was founded on, remain very much at the core of Numont. At Numont School, we aim to provide a happy stimulating and secure learning setting that encourages positive working attitudes in all our pupils and fosters respect and tolerance for the beliefs and opinions of others. We are committed to developing all aspects of the child: the emotional, the social, the aesthetic, the physical, the artistic and the intellectual skills necessary to live in today’s society.

We believe that, to enable each child to achieve his/her full potential, it is important to develop and maintain a positive partnership between home and school. We strive to keep you fully informed of developments and seek your views whenever possible.

We are extremely proud of the varied opportunities that are offered to pupils across the curriculum and of the impressive range of extra-curricular activities, which are constantly changing and currently include clubs for guitar, piano, French, drama, maths, capoeira, art, Bollywood, ballet, music and movement, football, basketball, junior sports, chess, cookery, phonics, Jackanory, swimming, speech and drama and homework club.

At the core of our vision is a determination to foster, in all children, a love of learning that will endure long after they leave Numont, enabling them to adapt easily to whatever future challenges they may meet throughout their lives. We strongly believe that it is important for all members of staff to inspire our pupils to succeed. We do not settle for second best. We aspire for every child to achieve highly and to develop the confidence and skills to “make their mark” and become life-long learners.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss any matters which may be of concern or interest to you.

Yours sincerely,
Joan Gemmell
